Today’s students have a plethora of choice for their post-secondary studies. Not only are they selecting what professional path they want to pursue, and what program is best suited to help them achieve that, but also which country they want to continue their educational journey. As applicants continue to increase the number of countries they are applying to universities in, the journey to enroll a desired student in your program or institution becomes more complex and competitive. Reducing barriers in your application process to ensure that it is as accessible and as applicant-centered as possible is one way to help ensure that you are attracting the best and brightest students and are enabling them to move through your enrollment process as smoothly and quickly as possible.
In this session, we will explore international student mobility trends globally, and in Canada through the lens of test taker data compiled from the DET’s global network test takers. We will also use the DET as a case study to examine some of the barriers that existing assessment and admission practices may present to applicants and how they can be overcome.
